A celebration of Hethal’s finest products. A two day event of racing and parade laps and a record attempt for the most Lotuses on track.

On Saturday Andy Green took to the circuit for his first qualifying session prior to racing in the Lotus Elsie Trophy on Sunday.
Andy was driving one of 32 160bhp race prepared Elises in his category. This was his first race weekend having only passed his ARDS test a few weeks before.

Qualifying proved to be a hard fought affair, AG ran middle of the pack before he dropped back to find some space he qualified in 23rd place – not at all bad for a first attempt.

Sunday was a scorching hot day. Andy was to drive in two races during the day.

Race 1 – very close running with Andy's early lap times fairly steady at 1.25, although a few laps into the race one of his close competitors ‘locked up’ under braking and hit Andy from behind, spinning both cars around.  While Andy’s car stayed on the track, the incident damaged the under tray and rear of the car. Despite this, Andy finally crossed the line in a respectable 18th place.

During the lunchtime break in racing a World record for the most Lotuses on track at one time was attempted. Elans, Europas, Esprits, Exiges, Elises and 2-Elevens of all ages took to the the track for a parade lap lead by AG in white Lotus Evora. The unofficial count is 430 cars comfortably broke the previous record of 313 cars, the record should be ratified by the Guiness Book Of World Records in a few weeks.

Race 2 – Andy took to the track without an under tray, causing the Elise to be a little unwieldy in the high-speed corners. He raced hard, including a final overtaking manoeuvre on the last corner of the race, bringing the car home in a very credible 15th place.

It was a great weekend, we met many new BLOODHOUND supporters there. A big thanks is owed to www.lotus-on-track.com for the loan of the car and their hospitality.
