Following a successful two day event at Bridgwater College, the Bloodhound Education Experience moved to the Fleet Air Arm Museum in Yeovilton to deliver a series of schools workshops, family learning sessions, business breakfast and to support, Sponsors, All World Freight celebrating their 25th Anniversary.

Throughout the week of 20th - 24th February 2013, the Education Team delivered presentations and interactive workshops for 195 pupils from local Somerset schools.  The Fleet Air Arm Museum is the only facility in the County delivering STEM outreach and uses its vast array of aviation and engineering exhibits to enthuse the young people of the County and enrich the curriculum.

Lloyds Bank sponsored a well-attended Business Breakfast for their clients and Business Community of the area.  The Museum provided “bacon butties” with Jonathan Ellis delivering a comprehensive, but light-hearted look at the Project.  The 85 business people were treated to a guided tour of the car and exhibits and also had the opportunity to ask questions of the Team.

Well supported by a number of knowledgeable Ambassadors, the Team held a series of Family Learning sessions that gave families an opportunity to work together in building Balloon Cars and to hear presentations expertly pitched by Simon Haydn.  These were well attended and the feedback from all was very good with special emphasis on Simon’s handling and answers to questions.

The finale of the event was a visit from the local Aston Martin Owners Club who brought along a selection of new and vintage cars that made a suitably “British” display at the entrance to the Museum (one of the owners didn’t read the instructions and brought along a Ferrari 458 and was fittingly banned from all photos and the driver made to sit on the naughty step!!!).  The owners were treated to a presentation and tour of the Bloodhound Show and used the Spriggs wagon as a backdrop to their celebratory photos. 

Julia Morris, Head of Learning said, “There appears to be a real appetite for Bloodhound and STEM Education throughout the local schools and we would love for the Team and the Education Experience to come to the Museum again.  We strive to develop interesting and challenging experience for the local pupils and Bloodhound has certainly done that!  We are extremely grateful to Mike and Viv Haynes from All World Freight for their support and determination in bringing the Bloodhound Education Experience to the museum; the feedback we have had from the schools, teachers, pupils and all the visitors that have seen Bloodhound has been so positive, we look forward to working together again.”
