Notwithstanding the somewhat arctic weather, BLOODHOUND SSC attracted a great deal of interest at the Santa Pod Easter Thunderball. The Show car, V12 and the 6 inch Hybrid Rocket attracted many comments from a different group of “petrol heads”. The “straightliners” were amazed at the figures and stats that the Ambassadors were talking about.
Richard and Andy came up to support the event and did poster signing sessions that proved a hit with adults and children alike and raised some cash donations for the project. Their interviews with Nitro FM were a hit as was Jo Finch’s competition that kept the youngsters busy over the weekend.
The Ambassadors proved a great hit with the public and proved invaluable as the Stand filled to bursting with folk when the weather or crashes (only a couple and everyone was OK) called a halt to racing. Jonathan did a couple of impromptu presentations for groups of young people and enthralled a group of poorly children who were recovering from cancer and leukaemia who were enjoying a well deserved day out with the Northamptonshire TLC Trust.
Lots of people asked if we were going to drive the car on the track in a “Run What Ya Brung”: perhaps another day!!!!
We have been invited back to Santa Pod in September so watch out for further details.
Thanks to all those who helped out over the four days: Helen Boocock, Steve Shoobridge, Allan Pettitt, Rohit Toor, Dave Mylett, Alan Read, Andy Tyler and Steve Jordan.
Listen to Andy_Green being interviewed by the Santa Pod commentator.
