UK runs – update
The BLOODHOUND Project today announced a revised schedule for the running of the Car. UK runway trials are now planned for later in 2016, with the first (800mph) record attempt projected to take place next year.
From Richard Noble: “The revised dates reflect the fact that, although interest in and support for the Project have never been greater, a number of major funding deals are still in negotiation.
“Nevertheless, the Project is still achieving its primary goal even without the car running: we’re turning kids on to science and engineering. Over 100,000 children took part in BLOODHOUND lessons or events in the UK last year, with many more involved internationally. By Easter this year, 150 regional centres (hubs) will be running our model rocket car competition and universities involved with the Project have reported significant increases in the number of students applying to study engineering.”

The inside story from Andy Green …
When our engineers designed BLOODHOUND, they knew they had to find a balance between strength and lightness, to quote chief engineer Mark Chapman. As BLOODHOUND’s driver Andy Green explains in his latest diary, this is also one of the things that children find out when they come to our Rocket Car Experience events and take part in the Model Rocket Car Challenge. Read his fascinating inside story.
… And from our junior engineers
In December, our Education team held a week of sold-out Rocket Car Experiences at the Technical Centre.
Over 200 children, with their parents, came to build and race model rocket cars.
Find out what they got up to in our race report.

“We now have one rocket scientist and one engineer in the making! They haven't stopped telling everyone about it and have even taken their rocket cars into school.”

Learn while you lunch
South Wales based STEM and BLOODHOUND Ambassador Allan Reid has instigated a series of lunchtime talks in South Wales and the West of England to introduce the BLOODHOUND Project to a wider audience. Read his account and contact us if you would like to know more about his ‘Lunch and Learn’ talks.
Schools outreach
“Exciting!”, “Breathtaking!”, “Cool!”, “Amazing!”, “Fantastic!”
The BLOODHOUND Education team visits schools and colleges to talk about the Project and inspire children and young people to get excited about science, technology, engineering and maths. Sometimes, though, we swap things round and invite schools into the BLOODHOUND Technical Centre. This week we were visited by St John’s Primary School. Here are their reactions to a day with BLOODHOUND.
