BLOODHOUND SSC – a supersonic racing car designed to reach speeds of 1,000mph (1,600km/h).

Welcome to BLOODHOUND’s monthly newsletter, with the latest news about the Project.

In the last month we’ve made great progress on the Car and continued to take the BLOODHOUND story out to schools and colleges – and to India. And this year, for the first time, we count down to Christmas with a BLOODHOUND Advent Calendar, where you can win some very exciting prizes! You can read about all of this and more in this month’s newsletter, but first we would like to wish everyone a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS from all of the BLOODHOUND Team!

Check out our website at www.bloodhoundssc.com for more information, videos and images.

Latest Car news

The main focus over the last month has been preparing the lower chassis and systems for a jet fuel test later in December:

  • The lower chassis was prepared by installing a steel framework at both ends, and then the main and auxiliary fuel tanks were installed.
  • Custom electrical boxes were fabricated to hold electronics needed for the test.
  • Pumps and connecting pipework were also installed, with assembly carried out by Advanced Fuel Systems.

Separately, the Team has continued to work on the upper chassis, adding the fin shear plate doubler to increase the strength of the surrounding chassis and working on the AMAD exhaust hatch (the AMAD starts the jet engine and then generates AC, DC and hydraulic power for the Car).

For more frequent updates on the Car’s progress, follow us on Twitter and Facebook.

Meet the team behind our race track

The local team at Hakskeen Pan have achieved the amazing feat of clearing the rocks from an area of 22 million square metres in order to create the world’s fastest race track. That’s equivalent to clearing a two-lane highway all the way from the BLOODHOUND Technical Centre in Bristol to Moscow in Russia. This BLOODHOUND TV episode tells their story – including how the FIA (land speed racing’s governing body) recognised their work in a special ceremony to mark one year to go before BLOODHOUND’s World Land Speed Record runs in 2017.

Andy Green takes BLOODHOUND to India

BLOODHOUND was put firmly on the map in India recently when driver Andy Green accompanied UK Prime Minister Teresa May on part of her recent visit to India for the India-UK TECH Summit 2016. They opened the event together in New Delhi, Andy then gave the keynote address for the first working session, and BLOODHOUND was cited as a great example of international collaboration in Prime Minister May’s speech at the High Commission. Teresa May then shared part of a BLOODHOUND ‘lesson’ at a local school that was being given by Andy.
