Rocket Experts NAMMO Join The BLOODHOUND Project

The BLOODHOUND Project is proud to announce a new partnership with NAMMO, the rocket propulsion specialists. The company, based in Norway, will supply its hybrid rocket technology for use in BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car, the 1,000 mph Land Speed racing car now being constructed in Bristol, UK.
NAMMO rockets are used by the European Space Agency to separate the stages of Ariane 5, the world’s most reliable & commercially successful satellite launch vehicle. Read more

Bloodhound’s vital electrical power systems protected by E-T-A circuit breakers

The vital electrical systems aboard Bloodhound SSC are protected by around forty circuit breakers and battery isolators provided by E-T-A. The circuit breakers are installed to isolate key parts of the system in the event of short circuits or overloads. Rather than using fuses whose characteristics change with age and lead to nuisance blowing, E-T-A circuit breaker performance is stable over time.

Mr Mandela said 'education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world'. Our project is testament to that idea. We are proud of our partnership with the country, and look forward to the day in 2015 when the world will see an amazing, inspirational story unfold in the beautiful desert of Hakskeen Pan, Northern Cape.

200 secondary school pupils will find out today [Wednesday 27 November] if their team has designed the fastest virtual land speed racer
For the past three months, 11 to 14-year-old pupils from 12 local schools have been taking part in SPEED: Beat the Bloodhound. The team-based competition, led by David Standingford and Jamil Appa from Zenotech Ltd, is part of a pilot education programme funded by a Royal Academy of Engineering Ingenious grant for public engagement.
