BLOODHOUND SSC Cockpit Completed

The cockpit of BLOODHOUND SSC, the 1,000mph (1,609km/h) Land Speed Racing car, was unveiled today in Bristol, UK. The state-of-the-art carbon fibre monocoque has been tailored to the needs of driver Andy Green and will be his supersonic office during record attempts in the South African desert in 2015 and 2016.

The BLOODHOUND Project is proud to announce a new partnership with NAMMO, the rocket propulsion specialists. The company, based in Norway, will supply its hybrid rocket technology for use in BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car, the 1,000 mph Land Speed racing car now being constructed in Bristol, UK.

NAMMO rockets are used by the European Space Agency to separate the stages of Ariane 5, the world’s most reliable & commercially successful satellite launch vehicle.     Read more

• Rolls-Royce ambassadors helping to inspire future generation of engineers

Rolls-Royce PLC today announced support for The BLOODHOUND Project. A Rolls-Royce EJ200 jet engine will be used in conjunction with a custom designed hybrid rocket to propel the car to over 1,000 mph (1,600 kmh or Mach 1.4).
Rolls-Royce will also provide financial and technical support for the project.
